Alison is a Special Counsel in our Project Approvals team, with over 14 years’ experience acting in the resources and renewables sector.

She advises on all aspects of the resources and renewables industry, with particular expertise supporting clients on tenement approvals, project development, native title, and cultural heritage. Her extensive experience enables her to provide practical, commercially focused advice on regulatory approvals, mining and oil and gas transactions, including the acquisition and sale of projects.

Alison also assists with land access arrangements, due diligence investigations and environmental rehabilitation obligations, helping clients navigate complex compliance requirements across the resources sector.

Experience

Queensland based resources companies

Advising on projects from mining lease application stage to grant including the mining lease objections process in the Land Court, negotiation of co-development agreements, compensation negotiations and project planning and strategy.

Petroleum and gas companies

Advising petroleum and gas companies in relation to co-development agreements, co-ordination and good neighbour agreements with overlapping mining resources companies.

Local councils

Providing legislative advice to local councils regarding compensation agreements under the Mineral Resources Act 1989 (Qld).

Mining companies

Advising various mining clients on the development of their projects and assisting them to obtain the grant of their tenement approvals, including providing legislative and approvals compliance advice, negotiating land access agreements and notifiable road use agreements, and advising on the management of other stakeholder issues.

Resource companies

Advising various resources clients on the approvals required under the Water Act 2000 (Qld) and drafting applications for water licences and associated water licences as well as other agreements including make good agreements and water supply agreements.

Local government

Providing advice to local government and resources and renewable energy clients regarding native title and cultural heritage matters and negotiating native title and cultural heritage agreements with various Aboriginal groups, including negotiating ILUAs and CHMPs.

Renewable energy companies

Advising clients on wind, solar, battery and PHES projects with particular focus on native title and cultural heritage.
