Matthew is an experienced property partner with expertise in major development, infrastructure and leasing transactions across Australia

He advises government agencies, developers and private sector clients on all aspects of complex structured property deals, including large-scale precinct developments, community housing projects, urban renewal initiatives and long-term leasing arrangements.

Matthew’s experience spans key sectors such as residential and commercial property, retirement living, ports, rail, pipelines and coal terminals. He regularly supports clients on acquisitions and disposals, off-the-plan sales, due diligence and portfolio leasing strategies.

He has advised on some of Australia’s most significant property projects, including the Herston Quarter redevelopment, the inner-city transformation of the Moonee Valley Racecourse, and the landmark redevelopment of the RNA Showgrounds in Brisbane.

Known for his commercial mindset and collaborative approach, Matthew is a member of the McR Real Estate team and works closely with clients to understand their goals and deliver practical, solutions-focused advice.

Experience

Leasing

Advising the Royal National Association (RNA) in the redevelopment of the RNA Showgrounds in Brisbane, which is one the largest urban regeneration projects in Australia. This included assisting with negotiating long-term leasing and retail arrangements.

 

Community housing

Advising for Springfield City Group on the development of its master planned community at Springfield, including advising on the delivery of senior living communities.

 

Real estate

Assisting Suncorp to secure a lease for over 40,000m2 of commercial office space in a bespoke new building in Brisbane for its new Queensland headquarters, including running the EOI and RFDP process.

Real estate and funds

Advising Australian Unity on the redevelopment of the site of the former children’s hospital at Herston in Brisbane to create a health precinct and the establishment of its national childcare fund.

Aged care and retirement

Assisting Keyton on its arrangements with Brisbane Racing Club in respect of its development of a retirement and aged care facility on surplus land at Doomben Racecourse under a long-term lease structure.

Community housing

Assisting Economic Development Queensland with the delivery of affordable housing projects, including the construction and operational phases of the project.

Infastructure

Advising Queensland Government on the development of the mega cruise ship terminal at Luggage Point (Brisbane International Cruise Terminal) regarding process requirements, land titling and tenure matters, and negotiating the transaction.

Land acquisitions

Advising for Defence Housing Australia on a number of land acquisitions, including contract preparation, legal due diligence and lease backs.
