McCullough Robertson’s Corporate team has successfully advised global financial services group Nomura on its acquisition of Australian investment management rights from Macquarie Asset Management Holdings Pty Ltd, as part of a broader approximately A$2.8 billion global transaction in partnership with global firm White & Case LLP.
The acquisition involved complex regulatory and licensing considerations in Australia, including the transfer of investment management rights for one wholesale scheme, five retail managed investment schemes, and multiple wholesale investment mandates. Our team negotiated a bespoke agreement between Macquarie and Nomura to ensure a smooth transition of Australian assets post-close.
It highlights our capability to navigate intricate regulatory frameworks and design tailored client solutions. We also managed cross-border complexities while maintaining clear and consistent communication with international stakeholders. Our involvement ensured compliance, operational continuity, and strategic alignment for Nomura in one of the most significant transactions this year in the asset management sector.
