James is an insurance and corporate risk expert who advises on a broad range of insurance issues such as coverage, claims handling, contractual risk and contested workers’ compensation claims for employers. 

To ensure clients understand the scope and operation of their insurance programs, James reviews and advises on policies across all classes of insurance and proposes recommendations for revisions to the policy terms to achieve the most appropriate and responsive insurance coverage for the client’s operational risk exposures.

James has a focus in managing and assisting clients to achieve insurance claims resolutions across a variety of industries and professions. He also has experience in appearing at settlement conferences and mediations and representing clients at trial.

He advises corporate-insured clients in the resources and renewables, construction, aged care, education and government sectors.

James also regularly supports clients in the public and private sectors in contesting and appealing contentious workers’ compensation claims.’

Advising mine owners, contractors and equipment manufacturers on insurance issues.

Personal injuries claims

Conducting personal injuries claims involving substantial contractual claims, including the requirement to indemnify and/or insure.

Workers’ compensation claims

Drafting submissions on behalf of employers to WorkCover Queensland and the Workers’ Compensation Regulator in relation to contested WorkCover claims. Acted on workers’ compensation appeals in the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission.

Advising on project developments and infrastructure operations.
