Emma is a Senior Associate in our Sydney Employment Relations and Safety team, with over five years’ experience advising clients across the full spectrum of workplace and employment law matters.

She acts for a range of public and private sector clients, including in the technology, media, health and higher education industries.

Emma has particular expertise in workplace disputes, including in relation to general protections, unfair dismissal, discrimination and stop bullying claims, as well as advising on and undertaking workplace investigations into a range of misconduct and probity matters, including public interest disclosures.

Experience

Federal litigation for technology business

Advising a cloud-based technology company and individual respondent in responding to a general protections claim, including strategic advice on penalty privilege, preparing a joint defence, managing discovery, and negotiating a pre-mediation settlement.

State Government entity

Acting in an unfair dismissal proceeding in the NSW Industrial Relations Commission brought by an individual whose employment was terminated following a performance management process.

Large whistleblower investigation

Conducting a large whistleblower investigation for a public sector client into a range of matters (including procurement misconduct, conflicts of interest, and maladministration).

Jurisdictional objection for real estate company

Assisting a client with a jurisdictional objection to a dismissal claim, including provision of prospects advice and representation in settlement negotiations.

Public sector industrial relations

Advising on enterprise bargaining and the approval of an enterprise agreement, including compliance review, support with BOOT queries, and representation before the Fair Work Commission, as well as negotiating with union representatives to secure agreement approval.

Specialist training

Providing training to a retail delivery company on the Australian employment law landscape and legal compliance.
